It's weird but my instance of 0.796 sorts tasks by date_modified in list view the same way as in grouped view (considering folder dates first) :\
I don't get it because your instance do it right (skipping folders).

Any ideas what could happen?

maybe it's not the latest version...
The v0.798 is actually really close to the head svn revision. I want to push v0.08 into being released this week. So I frequently upload the latest version (which is not been released yet) to www.streber-pm.org. I then go though the system-info log to see if something is broken...

I will release an intermediate version when I fixed some more bugs.
